Best Digital Camera… Smartphone Camera or Regular DSLR?

By on July 25, 2013

The latest digital war is hyping up with every new smart-phone that’s being released on the camera marketplace, and the question has to be asked sooner or later, so “WHAT is the best digital camera now?”

Well, they say beauty is in the eye of the beholder, so at the end of the day it is just down to personal taste, though many do like the idea of having a phone and camera in one, not only as it means less luggage, but a mobile phone is always at hand.

Smartphone Camera or Regular DSLR?Anyway it would seem that popular feedback indicates that in 2013 the best DSLR cameras are the Canon Powershot SX500, leading the way with an ultra wide-angle 30x zoom lens, and with an excellent optical image stabilization. One of its most outstanding features though is the Smart Auto mode which is capable of detecting 32 unique scenes.

Not everyone agrees of course, for example the Nikon l310 is quickly described as a 14.1 megapixel super-zoom camera complete with a 21X optical zoom lens, and video comes with 720p HD video recording capacity. Nikon again came up trumps with photographers, as the Nikon Coolpix l810 is described as “the biggest of the bunch”, and powerfully armed with a 26x optical zoom.

Looking for the best DSLR to buy? Trying to decide between a Canon or a Nikon DSLR camera? Before you do, don’t forget to compare your DSLR options with the latest smart-phones currently being released on the marketplace, like the Nokia Lumia 1020, which runs the Windows Phone 8 mobile operating system. But wait there’s more…

A smart-phone is named accordingly because not only can it make phones calls and send text messages, but it can use apps too, opening up the way for better digital cameras on our cell phones.

We will wait with abated breath to see how this digital camera war rages, with the only real winner being us photographers, and the way technology is advancing, we’ll all be wearing digital glasses soon:)
